SailFuture Academy is a private high school in St. Petersburg, Florida, built for students who learn best by doing. Classes are hands-on, small, and tied to real work: the boatyard, the galley, the chart table.
Sailing is the throughline. Students earn credit, build skills, and grow up a little on every voyage.
S/Y Whatever It Takes is a 100-foot sailing vessel that serves as a floating classroom. Students live aboard, stand watches, cook, navigate, and maintain the boat alongside a licensed captain and staff.
Each school term includes an expedition of several weeks. Crews sail the Caribbean and the Atlantic coast, volunteer in the communities they visit, and document the journey in the travel logs you can read here.
The map shows the route of the selected expedition, where each travel log was written, and the last known position of the vessel. Location and telemetry are published from onboard instruments whenever the boat has a connection, so gaps are normal offshore.
Expeditions are funded by donors who believe every student deserves an adventure that changes them. Your gift keeps the sails up.
