Day 8 — New Beginnings
Tatiana · Student
They say all good things must come to an end. SailFuture has been one of the greatest things I could have ever done and now that we are at the end of the line all the memories and lessons are hitting me like a tidal wave. It’s a sad realization that it is finally over, to leave this boat and return to the real world.
However I have gained such valuable lessons that I am leaving with of course a heavy heart but so much joy and pride of all the things I and all the girls have accomplished. Some of us scaled a mountain, others conquered fears, and all of us gained so much from this. Today we had a final dinner to close out this expedition and I hope that one day we will be reconnected with this crew again and share all the memories we made and the lessons we learned.
SailFuture has taught me to never give up and that I can do hard things even when the odds are stacked against me. I have been able to be myself on this ship and embrace parts of me that were hidden. I think all of us are walking away with something gained from this trip. I can’t speak for everyone but I know I definitely will have a hard time saying goodbye to this ship and this crew.
To whoever is reading this, just know a bunch of 15 to 17 year olds were cramped onto a boat and learned how to live together, there were really high, highs and some lows but we all are coming out new people. The world is so large and there is so much to explore from the reefs of Bequia, to, the people of Barbados. Life is so much more than the same boring routine of everyday life and whether your a freshman in high school or in your 40s don't forget to explore and don't forget life will keep moving its up to you to make it worth living.
Thank you SailFuture for giving us a trip we will never forget!
